Endometrial infusion of Neupogen for thin Endometrium

Shilo Posted Tue 27th of September, 2016 01:11:44 AM
Hello. The OB/GYN that I bill for recently performed an endometrial infusion of Neupogen for a thin endometrial lining. What would be the correct Dx and CPT codes for this? Thanks for your help!

Hi, the code commonly used for injection administration is CPT code 96372, Therapeutic, prophylactic, or diagnostic injection (specify substance or drug); subcutaneous or intramuscular. However, please corrlelate with the details of your case. Please send more information of the case for a specific CPT and diagnosis code. Thank you.

Here's the procedure note: Risks, benefits and indications for endometrial infusion of G-CSF fully reviewed. Patient questions answered. Speculum placed into vagina and cervix cleaned with betadine. Tenaculum applied to anterior lip of cervix. 3.5Fr Insemi-Cath (Cook Medical) inserted past the internal os into the lower uterine segment with placement confirmed under abdominal ultrasound guidance. Neupogen 300mcg in 0.5mL infused into the endometrium. Catheter flushed with 0.5mL of normal saline to ensure all of medication was transferred. Insemi-Cath removed and Tenaculum site hemostatic after application of Monsel's solution and silver nitrate. Transabdominal U/S after procedure confirmed presence of fluid in endometrium at conclusion of infusion. Pt left in recumbent position for 10min after procedure. Patient tolerated procedure well. I have the Dx, can you please give me a correct CPT for this? Thank you!

There is no exact code for this however the closest code for this procedure is 58340, Catheterization and introduction of saline or contrast material for saline infusion sonohysterography (SIS) or hysterosalpingography with HCPCS code J1442, Injection, filgrastim (G-CSF), excludes biosimilars, 1 microgram, for 300 units. Please check with your payer preference before using this CPT code as there are payers that may or may not pay for this. So another way of billing this code will be with the help of an unlisted code along with the HCPCS code. Hope this helps! Thank you.
