Elbow Procedure

L Posted Mon 08th of June, 2015 07:32:12 AM

How would I code the following:
DIAGNOSIS: Right elbow arthrosis with degenerative spurring and contracture.
PROCEDURE:
1.Arthroscopy, right elbow, with removal of loose body x 2, debridement of synovitis, debridement of coronoid spur.
2.Posterior elbow arthrotomy with excision of large olecranon spur formation along with loose bodies and fibrous tissue in the olecranon fossa.
I was thinking 29823 but unsure of what other code(s) to use.
Thanks.

Coding details can be provided only after going through the operative report. You have mentioned the procedures that have been performed but the operative report is missing.
We will be more than happy to code your operative report:

SuperCoder offers SuperCoding on Demand (SOD) (http://www.supercoder.com/coding-answers/coding-on-demand) for coding of an operative report or chart note and you can contact (866)228-9252 or e-mail customerservice@supercoder.com for more information.

I assume since you are not answering my question you will go ahead and credit me a question back.
Thanks.

Use CPT code 29834 for elbow arthroscopy with with removal of loose body or foreign body.
Use CPT code 29838 for elbow arthroscopy with extensive surgical debridement.
Use CPT code 24120 for arthrotomy with excision of bone cyst or benign tumor from olecranon process.

Also, ensure that location of arthrotomy incision was different from that of arthroscopic procedure.
