EGD with Laser

Nicole Posted Tue 23rd of July, 2013 18:58:30 PM

I have been told 2 different methods are used for an EGD with Laser. '43258' and '43250'. My initial thought is to use '43258' because Supercoder description under Physician Responsibility says by any method (e.g., laser ...)
Any tips as to which code is correct would be great. Thanks.

I agree with you.If the AVM was not bleeding but was destroyed by the gastroenterologist , 43258 (upper gastrointestinal endoscopy including esophagus, stomach and either the duodenum and/or jejunum as appropriate with ablation of tumor[s], polyp[s], or other lesion[s] not amenable to removal by hot biopsy forceps, bipolar cautery or snare technique) should be used.
