EGD with Balloon dilatation of the proximal jejunal stenosis

Cindy Posted Tue 17th of November, 2015 12:48:17 PM

My surgeon did an EGD w/ dilatation of the proximal jejunal stenosis. CPT 43249 is EGD w/ dilation of the esophagus. What code would you use for the EGD with balloon dilation of jejunal stenosis ? I couldn't find one. Patient had a previous RNY gastic bypass. thank you

There is no such procedure code for this specific scenario. Bill CPT 44799 (unlisted code) for the procedure. Make sure to attach operative report with the claim form to justify the procedure and to eliminate the risk of reduction in dollar value.
