Amber Posted Thu 12th of March, 2015 14:32:04 PM

If doctor does and EGD w/submucosal injection of indermil into gastric varices what cpt code should I use 43243 or 43236?

CPT code 43236 is the correct code that should be used for flexible transoral esophagogastroduodenoscopy with directed submucosal injection. Code 43243 is for injection of a sclerosing agent whereas in this case indermil has been used, which is a glue. So, the best code available for this scenario is CPT code 43236.
I hope this information will be helpful.
