EGD and colonoscopy in the same claim

Maarit Posted Mon 12th of March, 2012 18:37:54 PM

Is it appropriate to report both EGD and colonoscopy on the same claim? Just wondering about the order of the Dx in that case. Say, the pt complains of GERD and constipation. The path report comes back with several more DX like polyps, gastritis, divericulosis. May I report all of the colonoscopy related DX first followed by the EGD Dx? Or should gastritis be first, contipation second and the rest as incidentals in any order?

Yes it appropriate for you to code both EGD and colonoscopy. The Gerd and Constipation should be listed first and the rest as incidentals in any order.
