Ear wax removal by irrigation.

can i use 69210 for ear wax removal by irrigation? The DX. code is 380.4.

Simple irrigation alone is not reportable according to new CMS guidelines.

We can report it if instruments are used like otoscope and other instruments or wax curettes, wire loops, or suction plus specific ear instruments (e.g., cup forceps, right angle hook). Accompanying documentation should indicate the equipment required to provide the service.

We can only report this code in circumstances if wax removal is the only reason for visit and this is the only procedure performed.

If not then this should be inclusive to E/M code.
