I need an ICD9 code for Glioblastoma multiforme the book refers me to m9440/3 I have never used an M code ever? can someone explain this to me please?

The Index of ICD-9-CM suggests:

1) specified site - see Neoplasm, by site, malignant

2) unspecified site 191.9

Therefore check in your documentation if the specific site is mentioned. If yes, follow # 1 to decide the code. If not, 191.9 would be the code of choice.
