doctor getting hosed

Kristina Posted Tue 27th of December, 2016 16:55:28 PM
Good afternoon, I am a PATIENT who had a breast reduction surgery (insurance approved) 3 weeks ago. I have a history of having necrotic tissue removed leaving open wounds when I have surgeries. This was no exception. My plastic surgeon has had me text pictures every day, called me, had me go to his office....surely this isn't all under the global fee? If so, the guy's getting hosed bad. I just want for my own peace of mind that he is or is not able to bill other services for all the work/time he's giving me. Thank you for your time.

For major and minor surgical procedures, postoperative E&M services (for necrotic tissue removal) and recovery from the surgical procedure during the postoperative period are included in the global surgical package.

It means, all the procedures related to the major surgery in your post-operative visit would be included in the global day period of major surgical procedure.

Once, the threshold of 90 days gets over, your plastic surgeon can bill for his services separately.

Thank you!
