DM Coding

Kathy Posted Thu 26th of May, 2011 16:10:31 PM

I have a pt with a dx of:
1.Thermal burns to L foot from scalding water 2.DM 3.VSD

I am wondering the appropriate order of codes as well as the appropriate DM code to assign.

I chose: 945.02 / 250.90 / 459.81. Is this correct?

Could you please clarify (VSD) ventricular septal defect or venous insufficiency because as per that, code will be changed. You have choosen code 459.81, which is for venous insufficiency.

Yes. The dx is Venous Insuffciency

Hi Kathy, when I referred medilexicon.com to get the expanded form of VSD, I got
Ventricular Septal Defect
Ventrikelseptumdefekt (German)
Virtually Safe Dose

I would appreciate if you give it another thought.
