L Posted Tue 03rd of March, 2015 22:44:17 PM

How would I code the following:
DIAGNOSIS: Anterolateral distal tibia fracture.

PROCEDURE:
1.Attempted open reduction internal fixation, right anterolateral distal tibia fracture.
2.Excision of fragment.
3.Stressing of syndesmosis.

Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for the query.
For open reduction and internal fixation of right anterolateral distal tibia fracture, we can bill 2 codes 27827 (fracture treatment of tibia only) and 27828 (fracture treatment of tibia and fibula).

If stressing of syndesmosis is performed with the helps of screws then we can bill CPT code 27829.
I hope this information will be helpful.
