discontinued HSC after uterine perforation?

Susan Posted Wed 09th of March, 2016 19:19:24 PM

Patient was scheduled for hysteroscopy ablation and myomectomy. After entering the uterus a perforation was noted and the procedure was stopped. If I use modifier-53 for discontinued procedure which CPT would I use? 58561 or 58563, or would this now be just diagnostic and use 58555 without the modifier?

You could bill CPT code 58561 with modifier 53.
