Patient comes in (female) and physician dilates the urethra but then instills DMSO. Would the correct code be 51700 with J1212 or 53661 with J1212. There is no mention of urethral stricture. Dx code used was urethral syndrome. 51700 bundles with 53661.

Hi,

You can report 53660 for dilation. The procedures include dilation and  insertion of a suppository and/or instillation of a saline solution and are usually performed with local anesthesia.

Hope that helps!
