Diaphragmatic hernia repair

Lee Posted Thu 08th of November, 2012 20:53:54 PM

Could I use cpt 43281 for a Diaphragmatic hernia repair

SuperCoder Answered Fri 09th of November, 2012 00:39:12 AM

Absolutely if done laparoscopically.

CPT 2010 introduced two new codes for lap paraesophageal or diaphragmatic hernia repairs, so you should select the correct code from these:

• 43281 -- Laparoscopy, surgical, repair of paraesophageal hernia, includes fundoplasty, when performed; without implantation of mesh

• 43282 -- ... with implantation of mesh.
