Diagnostic Ultrasound

Luz Posted Tue 23rd of September, 2014 13:56:49 PM

Is it appropriate to bill CPT code 76999 for diagnostic ultrasound of inferior vena cava collapsibility and for ultrasound of lungs/interstitial fluid. It is an bdominal ultrasound to look at IVC collapsibility and for pulmonary ultrasound to look for B lines – interstitial edema). I did not find a specific code for these procedures. Your input on this question is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Thanks for your question.

Use CPT 76705 for abdominal ultrasound to look at IVC collapsibility

Use CPT 76604 for pulmonary ultrasound to look for B lines – interstitial edema. Pulmonary findings should be separately reported.

Hope this helps.
