What is used for lymphoma in complete remission, no evidence of disease recurrence after chemo? History of or active per Coding Clinic 2nd QTR1992page 3
SuperCoder Answered Thu 17th of January, 2019 02:14:04 AM

Hi Deaconess,

Thanks for your question.

As per AHA Coding Clinic 1992, 2nd quarter, page 3, "Lymphoma patients who are in remission are still considered to have lymphoma and should be assigned the appropriate code from categories 200-202".

But since the disease is completely cured and documented as “history of,” assign personal history code V10.79 (Personal history of other lymphatic and hematopoietic neoplasms) as a secondary diagnosis.

We hope this answers your question. Otherwise please feel free to write if you have any question.
