I have a patient date of birth 12/18/1998. This patient was seen on 02/17/2017 with diagnosis and order below that was denied as invalid diagnosis with patients age. I feel this to be the L21.0 and the office manager states this to be a correct diagnosis for the age of this patient. Is there another adult code? If so please let me know. Thanks, L21.0 T78.40XA F90.9

Hi Patricia,

ICD L21.0 is usually used for Pediatrics cases. As per the age of your patient it will be appropriate to use code L21.8 which is for other seborrheic dermatitis. (If it occurs on the scalp in babies, it is called "cradle cap." If it appears on the scalp in adults, it is known as dandruff). Thank you.
