Diagnosis code

Tammy Posted Tue 17th of July, 2018 06:02:37 AM
Is there are specific diagnosis codes for "test of cure" appointments, or is it just a generic test of cure code. When we have patients that test positive for infections such as chlamydia, etc. we bring them back after treatment for a test of cure appointment. Would you happen to know if we are to use a general code for an appointment like this or are there specific codes that are to be used for the type of treatment that was needed for the patient?

Hi,

As per above documentation the appropriate ICD-10CM code will be Z09 (Encounter for follow-up examination after completed treatment for conditions other than malignant neoplasm).

Also use additional code to identify any applicable history of disease code (Z86.000 – Z86.79, Z87.01 - Z87.898)

Note: ICD Z09 is also applicable for "Medical surveillance following completed treatment".

Thanks
