How many units is J1050? Is it "1" or "150"?
SuperCoder Answered Thu 08th of March, 2018 05:12:52 AM

HCPCS code J1050 states: Injection, medroxyprogesterone acetate, 1 mg (meaning: 1 mg= 1 unit).

The units of service for J1050 should reflect the number of milligrams injected.

Note: As per FDA, the recommended dose is 150 mg of Depo-Provera every 3 months (13 weeks) administered by deep, IM injection in the gluteal or deltoid muscle.
