PT presented to the ER this evening with precipitous delivery of liveborn baby boy. Patient states she was at home earlier and started having diffuse abdominal pain and cramping and was having significant pelvic and rectal pressure followed by what she thought was rectal bleeding. She then presented to the ER and precipitously delivered a baby boy with APGARs of 8 and 9 per ER report. Placenta was delivered intact, again per ER report quickly thereafter and then proceeded to have significant bleeding. I will not be able to bill the delivery for my provider since was not present . Pt delivered at ER. correct? ( wanted to confirm) Patient had NO prenatal care. 2. Also pt had Postpartum hemorrhage -EBL after delivery was at least 1100 ml with additional bleeding present. Provider took care after she delivered at ER and D/C patient : how do I bill? thank you!!

As per the presented documentation, kindly go through the following scenarios:

  1. The ED provider who did the delivery would code: 59409

  2. If your provider performed the pre-natal Only, then code: 59425- 59426 (basis your documentation).

  3. If your provider performed the postpartum care Only, then code: 59430
