Defibrillator discharge

Karn Posted Mon 07th of June, 2010 17:00:57 PM

Patient presented due to his defibrillator going off, but having no symptoms. Patient discharged with diagnosis of defibrillation by ICD. Would you code observation for suspected cardiovascular condition or is there a more appropriate code?

The patient came for defibrillator complications which should be coded as 996.04.
