Debridement of Achilles tendon

Cheryl Posted Tue 03rd of March, 2020 16:21:12 PM
The doctor opened the old incision over the Achilles tendon, debrided the tendon and removed some old sutures from the tendon along with pieces of mucinous tissue. This was done for infection. No repair was done to the tendon, just debridement and suture removal. What CPT code would be best.

Thank you for your question.

CPT® code 27654-Repair, secondary, Achilles tendon, with or without graft seems appropriate for the above-mentioned scenario.

Hope that Helps!
