Tammy Posted Wed 09th of December, 2015 14:48:01 PM

Please help with these CPT:
exploratory laparotomy with lysis of omental adhesions,
excision of cesarean scar pregnancy,
curettage of endometrial cavity, retrograde fill of bladder for evaluation of bladder integrity.
I know I do not code for the exploratory and not sure if there is a code for the excision of C-section scar?
what are the other CPT codes?
Thank you!

Thanks for your query,

Please elaborate you question because it is not clear excision of scar is in the skin level or inter-abdominal and curettage of endometrial cavity is hysteroscopic procedure or not ? I need some more clarification about procedure what approach physician is using while performing these procedures.

The was found to have an ectopic pregnancy implanted in the cesarean scar. She had elected to proceed with exploratory laparotomy and excision of cesarean scar ectopic.

procedure: It was an open procedure for etopic pregnancy. Using metzenbaums and russians as well as peanuts on kelly clamps, the vesicouterine peritoneum was taken down and the ectopic was exposed.

then The inside of the uterus was gently curetted to ensure complete removal of placental membranes.
Hysterotomy was closed. Please let me know your thoughts! thanks!!

You are right, exploration will not be coded separately. CPT 59121 is appropriate code to bill the given scenario.
