cpt help

Lynn Posted Mon 04th of April, 2016 10:25:41 AM

My doc performed this
Exam under anesthesia
2. Resection of transverse vaginal septum, release of obstruction with evacuation of hematocolpos, and vaginoplasty

Pt dx is not intersex state but she does have congenital anomalies and is 13 years old Can I code 57130 57335 and would the rel of obstruction w/ evac be billed separately? If so what code?

For the above mentioned scenario CPT 57130 seems appropriate. As mentioned, CPT 57335, should be used, only when a newborn's genitalia look unusual and it is not possible to identify the sex of the baby based only on the outward appearance.

Thanks !!

Is there a separate code for the release of obstruction with evacuation of hematocolpos?

For the release of obstruction with evacuation of hematocolpos, the procedure is bundled in CPT 57130. As for the separate CPT CODE, there is no such code.
