Dana Posted Fri 19th of April, 2013 21:49:35 PM

I need a CPT code for removal of a tonsillolith by curette.

Use 42825/42826 codes only for this procedure.A tonsillectomy can also be performed by cryo, laser, and electrocautery methods.

Can this code be used when performed in a doctors office?

Dana Posted Tue 23rd of April, 2013 15:13:19 PM

I would Like to verify if 42825/42826 can be done in the doctors office.

There is no separate CPT code for this activity so it is part of your E&M service. It is not appropriate to report 42825/42826 requiring general anesthesia.
