cpt coding of Interspinous supraspinous ligament injectin at C4-C5 level

Mike Posted Wed 10th of February, 2016 17:19:12 PM

Physician performed a interspinous supraspinous ligament injection and dictation states:
needle was inserted into the midportion of the interspinous ligament and solution was injected and AP and lateral view showed spreads midline into the left. Thus needle was withdrawn several millimeters and reinserted slightly to the right of midline with appropriate placement confirmed on AP and lateral view followed by myelogram safe contrast dye. This showed spread in the interspinous ligament . The needle was further withdrawn back into the interspinous ligament where repeat contrast injection showed flow predominantly in the ligamentous structures.

My question is would code 20550 be billed twice or just once since the needle was just repositioned during the procedure?
