I am still waiting for the answer of my question submitted yesterday and I need to add another procedure that my doctor performed during the surgery mentioned above. The other CPT that I need is a Laceration of Sclera (posterior) involving uveal tissue. Thank You,

Greetings from SuperCoder.com!

Here is the answer to your query:

  1. Drainage of hemorrhagic choroidal detachment should be coded with 67015 (Aspiration or release of vitreous, subretinal or choroidal fluid, pars plana approach (posterior sclerotomy))
  2. Exploration is performed to explore the procedure site, so it is always included in the procedure performed of that particular site (i.e. 67015).
  3. Code descriptor of code 67015 says “pars plana approach (posterior sclerotomy))”, which means that laceration of posterior Sclera is also included in code 67015. So you can’t report this separately.

Please feel free to write if you have any concern or questions.

Thanks.
