CPT code for Robotic BSO

Tammy Posted Wed 31st of August, 2016 07:50:04 AM
Good morning, There was some confusion with this code. We had found the code for a laparoscopic BSO but what the nurses were explaining to me was that essentially laparoscopy and robotic could be the same but in this situation the physician will be doing it by robot only. He will not be at the table side in the OR to do the surgery laparoscopically. They then explained that those are two different processes and that by robot only it should be more than just the laparoscopic BSO. They are wondering if the same cpt code is the same or if there is a different one because to do the surgery by robot alone is more expensive than just a laparoscopic BSO. Please let me know what that code would be. thanks.

Correctly understood in this scenario that the surgery will be performed by robotic approach. Also, the robotic approach have many advantages over laparoscopic and is expensive too.

There is no cpt code for robotic approach. Whereas, cpt code for laparoscopic BSO is 58661.
