cpt code for "ball of hip" only revision

Renee Posted Mon 15th of August, 2016 12:07:29 PM
my provider is doing a revision surgery to replace only the ball of the hip. he said it is neither the acetabular nor the femoral ~ only the ball. could this be billed with 27138 with a -52 modifier for reduced services? or will it have to be submitted under an unlisted code? thank you for your help

Hi,

There is no specific code for "ball of hip" replacement. Use unlisted code for this procedure.
