CPT Code 66840

Lovell Posted Wed 05th of February, 2014 13:50:24 PM

I received an encounter form with '66840-78' as the only code listed with a diagnosis of 998.82. The doctor wanted to no charge this because he feels its within the global period for a cataract surgery 2 days prior. However, I feel we can still bill for this code. Please advise.

Yes you can within global period along with the Modifier 78.

That's what the guideline says!

Do you know where I can find a copy of that guideline?

These are general guidelines for Modifier 78. You can get it anywhere.
