Good Afternoon, I have an office contacting me for the above code.. They are stating this to be a new CPTfor RSV testing? I do not read the code as an RSV test. Please advise. Thanks,

Greetings from!

Please note that CPT code 87801 is not a new code. It was added in 2001. For RSV testing, you should report the following code:

  • 87807 - Infectious agent antigen detection by immunoassay with direct optical observation; respiratory syncytial virus

Please feel free to write if you have any concern or questions.
