CPT 67850(Destruction of lesion of lid margin) billed with ICD-9 374.51 (Xanthelasma of eyelid) but it getting denied as this procedure code is inconsistent with the provider type/specialty (taxonomy), please advice can this procedure should be performed by the dermatalogist alone or any physican can perform this code. Thanks

I did research on this and found out that CPT 67850 for destruction of lesion of lid margin can be performed by a physician in his daily practice. Minor procedures can be performed by the physicians in the primary care. Performing these procedures in the office setting is a benefit to the patient and the practice.

I would advice you to get in touch with your insurance provider and enquire about how you can get this thing paid.
