CPT 64415

Jessica Posted Tue 24th of February, 2015 14:15:23 PM

A hospital bills 64415 on outpatient surgical bills. The nerve block is given prior to the surgery then general anesthesia is administered in the OR. The CCI edit checker notes this code cannot be billed with the surgery codes under any circumstances.
Can the hospital can charge for 64415 when it is given in preop holding prior to general anesthesia administered?

No, you can not bill 64415 given pre operatively. It should be considered as included in surgical procedure code. Thanks !!
