CPT 36000 PICC Nurse verses Physician

Kelly Posted Tue 24th of September, 2019 08:57:15 AM
Can CPT code 36000 be reported for the hospital side when it is provided by a PICC nurse in the Emergency Department or can it only be reported when it is inserted by a physician?

Hello Kelly,

Thank you for your question.

A PICC Nurse is a registered nurse who has certification and expertise in vascular access.

Yes, the hospital can report CPT code 36000, when provided by a PICC nurse in the ED.

Please feel free to ask any further question; if any.
