Maybritt Posted Wed 06th of July, 2016 16:13:56 PM
Need help with "Left reverse shoulder arthroplasty with removal of total shoulder arthoplasty and conversion to shoulder hemiarthroplasty". Never seen this done before and could use some advise.

The language is confusion. It is not practically possible to remove both glenoid and shoulder component (i.e removal of total shoulder arthroplasty) and convert into shoulder hemiarthroplasty (i.e placing only 1 surface either humeral component or glenoid component). Please confirm with the doctor, if both humeral and glenoid components were removed and newly inserted (Removal and re-insertion i.e. Replacement)OR any of 1 component was removed and reinserted. If both the components were replaced, use CPT ode 23474 but if only 1 component was replaced, use CPT code 23473. Hope it Helps!!
