consult for screening/pt cancels screening procedure

Lydia Posted Wed 01st of March, 2017 17:43:36 PM
can we bill for a screening consult if a patient later changes his mind and cancels his screening colonoscopy and what dx would we use if the answer is yes?

Greetings from SuperCoder.com!

Thanks for your question. Please note that you cannot bill services which your provider has not provided. In this case, screening colonoscopy is a “No-Show”. So you cannot bill it. Rather if your physician provided evaluation and management services to reach the conclusion of getting a screening colonoscopy, then you can bill E/M only.

Please feel free to write if you have any concern or questions.

Thanks.
