completion thyroidectomy with central neck dissection

Lisa A Posted Fri 30th of September, 2016 21:10:10 PM
Previous left thyroid lobectomy. Path came back as carcinoma. Now with completion thyroidectomy with central neck dissection. Would this be coded as 60260 & 38724, or 60252? We're getting a denial on 38724 which is an inpatient-only procedure, on an outpatient chart. thanks

As per the above documentation, the more comprehensive code 60252 would be appropriate as thyroidectomy was performed for malignancy with neck dissection.
