In Report documented as " Grade B esophagitis in the gastroesophageal junction compatible with mild distal esophagitis." Can we bill for Grade B esophagitis ( K20.8 )

Thank you for asking question.
It is apprpriate to use K20.8 (other esophagitis) for Grade B esophagitis. Feel free to ask for any further query.

As it is mentioned with the term Compatible is it appropriate to bill K20.8 OR need to bill Other esophagitis

Since there is no separate billable code for mild or grade B esophagitis, so we will stick to ICD-10 K20.8 (other esophagitis.)
In this code other esophagitis means esophagitis which includes abscess of esophagus but is not limited to.
Also, we cannot use K20.9 (esophagitis, unspecified) because the type of esophagitis is mentioned in your documentation. Hope it helps.

Thank You for the information ,need clarification as to whether can we bill K22.8 (OTHER SPECIFIED DISEASES OF ESOPHAGUS ) as the condition states compatible

As per ICD-10 index, it is correct to bill >K20.8 (other esophagitis), as it will direct us to the same code for Grade B esophagitis in the gastroesophageal junction compatible with mild distal esophagitis.
