in Case a patient had Procedure- L SSV Ablation along with Post Op Scan - L Leg on the Same Date - what would be the modifier and cpt we have to use on the Ultrasound Superbill ? (Since the Legs did not alternate for Ablation and US ) My provider saying there is a different ultrasound scan code that states it is not related to the Ablation Procedures we can use in case of situations where the scan and procedure is not altered btw legs.

Hi Darshna,

Endovenous ablation therapy requires imaging, including ultrasound for access, guidance, and monitoring. Therefore, you can not report any of the following codes with codes 36475-36479. However, you may report the duplex scan codes if the physician performs a scan as an independent diagnostic study on the same day as the ablation therapy, according to CPT guidlines. Code 93971 (… unilateral or limited study) for duplex scan. Please feel free to ask for any further query.
