coding help for "excision of vaginal mesh erosion"

Stacey Posted Mon 24th of January, 2011 20:15:37 PM

Not sure how to code this, I don't think it would be a foreigh object. My doc recently performed an excision of vaginal mesh erosion - it was TVT - from pt vaginal wall. Mesh was from a prior surgery, TOT sling. On exam, there was a small area about 1.5 cm of mesh oroding through the right side of the upper vaginal wall. The urethra was not involved. The remainder of the mesh was intact in a good position. Thanks for your help!

Depending on the approach, you can code either of the two:
57295 – Revision (including removal) of prosthetic vaginal graft, vaginal approach
57296 – Revision (including removal) of prosthetic vaginal graft; open abdominal approach
