Codes 00600 - 00670

Samantha Posted Fri 11th of July, 2014 10:58:27 AM

Our office was coding 64635,64636, and the Jcode with the anesthesia series 00600-00670. Is this appropriate for place of service 49? Please advise asap

POS 49- Independent clinic represents 'A location, not part of a hospital and not described by any other Place of Service code, that is organized and operated to provide preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, or palliative services to outpatients only.'

64635-64636 are the facet joint injection codes that may be performed in outpatient setting. However, 00600-00670 are general anaesthesia codes and are not seemed to be appropriate to be billed at Independent clinic level. It might attract denial from the payer.

Thanks !!
