garivo06 Posted Wed 04th of November, 2015 14:12:09 PM

Good Morning
My question is if we are can get reimburse for chemotherapy instructions teaching after surgery visit by nurse 99211 with modifier 24 and a counseling diagnosis or is this part of the post op care 99024 when there is no other service provided to the patient .

Thank you in advance for your reasoning,
Ivonne G

Well,

if chemotherapy instructions teaching is related to surgery that was done (i.e. cancer surgery), then we cannot code 99211 with modifier 24. in this case, we will use CPT 99024 "No charge " code for this condition.
Modifier - 24 is for Unrelated Evaluation and Management Service by the Same Physician or Other Qualified Health Care Professional During a Postoperative Period
