Chemical Destruction of a Neuroma

Cheryl Posted Wed 23rd of March, 2016 15:54:54 PM

My doctor wants to perform a chemical neurolysis to destroy a neuroma on a patients below the knee stump. The patient is unable to wear his prosthesis due to the painful neuroma. Which CPT code best fits this scenario?

As per documentation, I think code 64640, Destruction by neurolytic agent; other peripheral nerve or branch would be appropriate. However, please provide some more information if you need to have a more specific answer.

That is the code I was leaning toward. Thank you for your help.
