Hi there !

do I have to be physically in office when my PA sees patient?

do I have to do chart auditing for those medicare charts that my PA saw?

Yes, for medicare service provided by a PA, you need to directly supervise the PA. It means that you need not to be in direct contact with patent, rather you should be present in office suite at time when service is being rendered and available to provide immediate assistance if required.

Also, the service provided by PA should be within the scope of practice and in line with state regulations.

Yes, you need to do chart auditing for each medicare charts that your PA saw if you are billing for 100 percent of the Medicare fee schedule under 'incident to billing' guidelines.
