charging a related code same day as a a 10 day global code

Mary Posted Fri 05th of April, 2019 15:16:09 PM
When a procedure with a 10 day global period is performed and a HCPCS code is also administered ( e.g. a Q code or an L code) and it is related to the CPT code with the 10 day global is that related HCPCS code billable and reimbursable by Medicare on the date of surgery? Or is the day of surgery HCPCS codes included in the 10 day global period and therefore not billable and reimbursable on date of surgery?

Thanks for your question.

As per your question, the HCPCS code will be billable by the facility, the supplies are billed by the facility only, The CPT® code will be billed by the provider.

Hope this helps.
