Cautery Tracheostomy Bleeding Site

Donna Posted Wed 12th of September, 2012 17:32:44 PM

Would cautery of a bleeding tracheostomy site be included with an E/M, CPT 17250chemical cautery of granulation tissue, or UPC-unlisted procedure code?
Thank you!

Hi Donna,

How about 35820? The risk of bleeding or hemorrhage, pain, or other postoperative complications may necessitate the need to explore, repair or otherwise revise a surgical site. If the physician finds during postoperative examination that the artery needs further repair or revision, the procedure will be performed and documented.

I think this suits more rather going for an unlisted.
