Carotid Tumor Resection

Nicole Posted Thu 30th of October, 2014 14:00:57 PM

There was a tumor involving what appeared to be the bifurcation of the right carotid artery. The tumor was densely adherent to the external carotid artery- this was dissected free and the tumor was left in situ on the artery. A partial exclusion clamp was placed across the ostium of the external carotid artery and this vessel was excised.

Would this be the CPT code 60605?

Yes code 60605, Excision of carotid body tumor; with excision of carotid artery would be appropriate for the above scenario.

Thanks !!
