Cardiac Monitoring and Continuous Pulse Oximetry in the Emergency Room

Debra Posted Fri 21st of November, 2014 15:22:31 PM

When a patient comes into the Emergency Room with respiratory distress with SpO2 of 91% with h/o COPD and asthma. Pt is a smoker and has HTN.

Orders for continuous Pulse Oximetry and cardiac monitoring is ordered.

Can the continuous pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring be separately charged for or are these services included in the Facility Level?

You cannot report pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring separately and they are included in the facility level code.

Thanks !!
