Can you code same-date E/M, Critical Care?

Wendy Posted Wed 08th of February, 2012 14:15:32 PM

99231-99233 same date w/ 99291

yes you can. No CCI edit on the codes.

Be careful: Make sure the time counted in 99291 is truly time the patient meets definition of critical care and that none of that work is counted in level of HEM. And that the 99291 time requirement is clearly met in documentation.
