Can you bill both 27130 and 27248 together?

Angela Posted Wed 29th of July, 2015 15:18:07 PM

During a Total Hip Arthroplasty surgery there was a intraoperative complication of a greater trochanteric fracture, requiring open reduction and internal fixation. Can I bill for the Fracture procedure (27248) with the THA (27130)?

If greater trochanteric fracture occurred during the procedure, you cannot bill it separately. But if it is diagnosed during the primary procedure. yes, you can report it with -59 modifier.
